On April 10, 1940, Al Rushton was named delegate at the Rotary International Convention in Havana, Cuba. Al did not aspire to become President of the Club, but he did compile fifty years of perfect attendance as a Rotarian!

Mrs. Eleanor Roosevelt, the wife of the President of the United States Franklin D. Roosevelt, was the Club speaker at a special meeting opened to the public on May 31, 1940, held in the Convention Hall

The Club became involved in traffic matters again on September 24, 1940, and voted to recommend the removal of the light standards. from the center of Grand and Asbury Avenues.

On August 11, 1941, Vice Premier C. Chanttemps of France was the Club's guest speaker. This was the Vice Premier's first appearance since fleeing France after its capitulation to Germany during the Petain Premiership at the beginning of World War II.

The following year, April 15, 1942, the Club lost its President, William Musser (d-194142).  Club Vice President, Frank Allen (d-1942-43), assumed his Presidency two and a half months early.  Community involvement was again evidenced in July 1942 as Club President, Harry Allen and members Amos E. Kraybill (d-1921-22) and Halsey D. Polhemus served the local board 4
