underprivileged.

Executive Director of the Count Basie Theater,
will share about the history and restoration of this
wonderful landmark in the heart of Red Bank.

President of the Board, spoke in place of Michael
Pollack, General Manager of Deal Golf &
Country Club. He will be describing the
renovations that will be going on at the club over
the next several months and also spend a few minutes
on what is involved in being the General Manager of
a Country Club.

Falls club and regular visitor to ours,
will be discussing
the District's International Water Project.
He has been giving these talks at clubs throughout
the District as well as the District Conference.
David is an excellent speaker and it should be an
entertaining, interesting and informative

- Paul McEvily, the associate Executive Director of
Interfaith Neighbors will give us an update of their
Mission.

W. Callinan, a certified elder attorney, will talk
to us about Medicaid planning and the importance of
Living Wills, Powers of Attorney and Trusts. Paul
is one of about 50 Certified Elder Law Attorneys in NJ.

Dr. Richard Ponton, Director
of the Human Services Department of Ocean Township
(which includes the Recreation Dept.), Rich will be
speaking to us about the reopened Colonial
Terrace Golf Course. He'll also share
about the First Tee Organization making the
Colonial Terrace their home course for Monmouth and
Ocean Counties.

Jon Leidersdorff, owner of Lakehouse Music
Production Company and former Asbury Music
Awards winner, and Scott Stamper, owner of the
Saint and co-founder of the Wave Gathering music event
in Asbury will be speaking. This event is a
huge music festival modeled after the International one
held in Austin, TX each year. Both will be speaking
about the importance of the music scene to Asbury and
its role in the revitalization.

laying our plans for his year. All major
Committees held organizational meetings and goals were set.
Membership is set to increase our membership to 65.

spoke to us about the 8th largest pipe organ in the
world. Located in the Great Auditorium.
Wed Jul 23 - Dick Isackson, former District Governor, will be speaking
about the many relief projects Rotary gets involved
in including the Shelter Box program.

Beach Party - Our annual beach party will be
held right on the beach in Allenhurst at Adrienne's
home - 2 Allen Avenue. Times are 11 am to 5
pm. Don't forget your sunscreen.

Sad News - Club Member Ed Mautner
Dies.
May 26, 2008
EDWARD M. MAUTNER, 89, of INTERLAKEN BOROUGH
EDWARD M. MAUTNER, 89, of INTERLAKEN BOROUGH,
died Sunday, May 25 at home. Ed graduated from Asbury
Park High School and attended Rider College. He served
in the U.S. Army in World War II in the European Theater
and was awarded two Battle Stars and the Foreign Service
Ribbon, before serving 25 years in the Army Reserves,
retiring as a Lt. Colonel. Ed was former deputy director
of II Corps U.S. Army Reserve Marksmanship Program and
was awarded the U.S. War Department's Distinguished
Rifleman's Medal. He was a former member of the
Interlaken Borough Council and served as Interlaken
assessor. Ed was a past member of the Deal Lake
Commission, the Interlaken Recreation Committee and a
Community Development representative. He was a
self-employed real estate and insurance broker, and New
Jersey licensed real estate appraiser. He was a former
member and chairman of the board of directors of the
Keystone Savings and Loan Association, and a member of
the board of directors of the Jersey Shore Savings and
Loan Association. He was a member of the Board of
Governors of Jersey Shore Medical Center and a member of
the Joint Advisory Committee of Meridian Health System.
He was a communicant, trustee and usher for Holy Spirit
Church, Asbury Park and past president of the church's
Holy Name Society. Ed was a former safety inspector for
Monmouth Council Boy Scouts of America. He belonged to
the Asbury Park Rotary Club (where he was a Paul Harris
Fellow), the Retired Officers Club, VFW Post 1333 and
the American Legion Post 24. Ed loved fishing and the
outdoors, and was known as the "Beachmaster" at Loch
Arbor Village Beach, where he was a member for over 70
years.
He was
predeceased by his wife, Margaret Ryan Mautner in 1999.
Surviving are two sons and their spouses, Edward M. Jr.
and Helen Mautner of Roundville Va., and John J. and
Ellen Mautner of Fair Haven; three daughters and a
son-in-law, Margaret Bentz of Asbury Park, Mary L.
Mautner of Long Branch, and Elizabeth R. and Thomas
Porter of Middletown; 13 grandchildren; and nine
great-grandchildren.
Visitation
will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 7 to 9 p.m.
Tuesday at Buckley Funeral Home, 509 Second Ave., Asbury
Park. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m.
Wednesday in Holy Spirit Church, Asbury Park. Interment
will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Neptune. In lieu of
flowers, please donate to either Meridian Hospice or
Holy Spirit Church Restoration Fund.

HUBIE R.
PIERCE, of NEPTUNE
HUBIE R. PIERCE, of NEPTUNE, departed this life
Tuesday, July 1, at Monmouth Medical Center, Long
Branch. He graduated from Neptune High
[[/obitpix,ob06rpie School in 1958. While in Neptune
High School, he earned many varsity letters in baseball,
and football. He furthered his education by attending
the American Academy-McAllister Institute of Funeral
Service, graduating in 1966. After receiving his license
from the State of New Jersey as a practitioner of
Mortuary Science, he started his career as a funeral
director under the late F. Leon Harris Funeral Homes in
Asbury Park and Red Bank. He became a funeral director
for the James H. Hunt Funeral Home in 1970, and was
mentored by Mr. James H. Hunt. He was a co-founder and a
charter member of Faith Baptist Tabernacle, Asbury Park,
where he was president of the Tabernacle Choir for many
years, and was on the board of directors of its Shore
Community Child Care Center. He was well known for his
singing ability, having formed many gospel groups, the
most prominent group was the Spiritual Keys. Hubie is a
member of Mt. Pisgah Masonic Lodge No. 48; Samuel Gordon
Consistory No. 50; Mahja Temple No. 47; Adah Chapter No.
17 OES,PHA; The Asbury Park Rotary Club, of which he
served on the board of directors and was past president;
past president of the Whitesville School P.T.A.; proud
coach of the Neptune Girls softball league "BEARS" that
won many championships for him and a past member of the
Neptune Police Reserve.
He was
predeceased by his father, James E. Pierce, Sr. and his
brother, James E. Pierce, Jr. He leaves to cherish his
memory a loving wife of 48 years, Celestine Carolyn
Pierce; a daughter, Deidra Carolyn Calderon, of Neptune;
his mother, Rosenetta V. Pierce, of Neptune; two
brothers, Eric N. Pierce, of Reading, Pa.; and Gyse D.
Pierce a sister, Nadine R. Hardy, both of Neptune; a
granddaughter, Maria Luisa Miti, of Neptune; an uncle,
Eddie L. Pierce, and his wife, Geraldine, of Neptune;
three sisters-in-law, Brenda E. Mallory, of Dolphin,
Va., Doris Mitchell, of Bricktown, and Gladys Dickerson,
of Neptune; a brother-in-law, the Rev. Albert E.
Mallory, Sr., of Dolphin, Va.; two foster brothers,
Isaiah and Larry Fisher, Jr.; one foster sister, Janet
Watt, and a host of nephews, nieces and other relatives.
A funeral
service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday from the Living
Word Christian Fellowship Church, Hwy 35, Neptune, with
the Rev. Cedric Miller, Pastor, officiating. Interment
is at Monmouth Memorial Park, Tinton Falls. Cotton
Funeral Service, Orange, is in charge of arrangements.

MONICA MARY
McPHERSON, 46, of BRADLEY BEACH
MONICA MARY McPHERSON, 46, of BRADLEY BEACH,
passed away Tuesday, July 29, at Our Lady of Lourdes
Hospital, Camden, with her mother and father at her
side. Monica was a graduate of Asbury Park High School,
the University of Maryland with a Bachelor's degree in
Public Administration and a Masters Degree in National
Security Studies. She was a graduate of Seton Hall Law
School. She worked as an attorney for various law firms
and most recently worked as an attorney for the State of
New Jersey in Trenton. She was a former member of the
Asbury Park Rotary Club.
She is survived
by her parents, James P. and Marguerite Ann McPherson;
her five brothers, Capt. James B., U.S.C.G., John,
Patrick, Commodore Brendan, U.S.C.G., and Michael; and
13 nieces and nephews.
Visitation
will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the
Reilly Funeral Home, 801 D St., Belmar. Relatives and
friends are invited to attend the funeral at 9 a.m.
Saturday from the funeral home, followed by a 10 a.m.
Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at the Church
of the Ascension, 501 Brinley Ave., Bradley Beach.
