The Asbury Park Rotary Club’s Midyear Accomplishments!!
 
Recap from our Club Assembly
 
July- Volunteered at FufFill AKA FOOD BANK & sponsored Asbury Park Little League kids for camp!    
Aug-Raised enough $ during the Mini-Golf Outing to purchase 3 Defibrillator’s for Asbury Fire Dept.
September-Collected a garage full (over 100 bags for Hurricane Harvey victims in Texas)                         Our Club raised just under $1500.00 for the 1st ever Relay-For –Life event in Asbury Park!(American Cancer Society) between the Evening Club & the AP daytime Club.
October- AP Rotary held our 3rd annual month long food drive to help The Emmanuel Cancer Foundation
October-Rise-Against Hunger Event & Deal Lake Clean-Up
November- We will have our annual “Thank a Veteran Luncheon” (Hosting Veteran’s for lunch Nov 22nd)
November/December- Our members are helping adopt wishes for the 90 families that The Mya-Lin-Terry Foundation serve.  MLTF serve families with children fighting pediatric cancer.
December-Kwanzaa Book Drive for the City of Asbury Park, Salvation Army Bell Ringing & Dec 16th Holiday Party at The Belmar Fishing Club.
 
I am happy to announce we had applied for & received 2 additional grants through our district, 1 for Public Relations & the other for our Bike Project for the spring of 2018 (about $2,000)
 
The MS Making Connection’s Program has been quite successful donating almost 100 computers in 2017
Between our members & visiting Rotarian’s we have collected four banners from clubs around the world!
A few of our members were lucky enough to take part in the Rotary Leadership Program this fall.
Brand New Badges are pending & should arrive just in time for the New Year!
So thank you to all who have participated & plan to participate. The year is going so fast.  We look forward to The 3rd Annual Blood Drive Jan 3rd, The Polar Plunge Jan 27th, The St. Patrick’s Day Parade in March and the Planet Earth Initiative in April!!!  The Wine Dinner will follow in May of course with the Installation Dinner not far after that in June, our famous Beach party with Adrienne & Diane in July to wrap our Rotary year up!
To date we have donated or are slated to donate hundreds of dollars to many local groups –To name a few: Rise Against Hunger, Guatemala Water Project, Habcore, Mercy Center, American Cancer Society & Alex’s Lemonade Stand as well as Lunch Break!! Stay tuned for more action & I urge you to take part in as many activities as you can.  Many hands make light work (John Heywood) & keep your eyes open for the new member spotlights, your week will be coming!   • In Closing, the Ocean Township Chamber of Commerce has chosen our Club to be the recipient of The Outstanding Community Service Award on Jan 10th!! Let’s keep our great service going!!
