Scholarships Awarded to Local Students

The Asbury Park Rotary scholarship winners for 2012 attended our luncheon meeting on Dec. 26, 2012 for their award presentation. Lytane Boyer of Asbury Park High School is attending Fairleigh Dickinson University. Andrew Bauer of Neptune High School is attending the University of North Carolina. Travis Schembri of Neptune High School is attending the University of Delaware. Jessica Williams of Ocean Township High School is attending Christopher Newport University. These students have successfully completed their first semester and are eligible for the award. Money raised from our Starlite Chorale Concert and Calendar Raffle provide the funds for these scholarships.

The scholarship presentation ceremony was conducted by Brenda Skinner, Scholarship Committee chair. Dr. Denise Ricciardi, Assistant Superintendant of the Ocean Township School District, provided the keynote address about the value of a college degree in today's economy. The members of the Scholarship Committee include: Brenda Skinner (chair), Dr. Amy Peardon, Robin Platt-Lacey, Rick Steelman and HJ Abrecht. We thank our sponsoring businesses and individuals for their generous support.
