THE DICTIONARY THAT OUTLIVED THE MOMENT!!

A few years back, we sent boxes of bright red dictionaries into the hands of every third grader in our area. The project wound down… The boxes' contents filled the shelves.  And we moved on other exciting projects...

Then last week, one of those dictionaries turned up again, reminding us exactly why we started!!

For years, Rotary supplied dictionaries to third graders throughout our community.

Today, kids may turn to Google for the answers—but this week,
we were reminded that some things still have staying power.

Joan, one of our Rotary members, shared that her daughter, now teaching in Neptune, found one of those dictionaries sitting on a shelf in her classroom. ❤️

Years later, it’s still there.
Still being used.
Still helping a child discover a new word. That dictionary is just one example of

Rotary’s commitment to literacy.

We’ve also supported Dr. Peardon’s office in the past through Reach Out and Read We have also partnered with the Bridge of Books Foundation to sponsor and install a “Book Ark”—a mini lending library—at Woodrow Wilson Elementary in the Neptune City School District.

It’s a great reminder that Rotary’s good works don’t just happen—they stay in circulation. 📚❤️

And we’re excited about what’s next!

Here's to the dictionaries that outlived the moment - and to everything still coming!!
