Scholarship Program

 

Introduction

Introduction This scholarship program is a vocational service activity of the Rotary Club of Asbury Park and seeks to assist and encourage high school seniors to pursue a post-secondary education with an emphasis on service to the community. The Rotary Club of Asbury Park expects to award up to four scholarships. Each selected student will be awarded a scholarship of up to $2000. This scholarship is payable directly to the student to be used for books and other educational expenses. A payment of $1000 will be awarded in June 2024 at a Rotary Club of Asbury Park Luncheon and the second payment of $1000 will be made after the successful completion of the second semester after submission of transcript from a post-secondary school. Eligibility and awards will be decided by the Rotary Club of Asbury Park based on the applicant pool. 

Eligibility Requirements
In order to be considered for a Rotary Club Scholarship Award the applicant must: 1. Will be graduating from high school in 2024 and be a resident of Asbury Park, Neptune, Ocean Township, Deal, Allenhurst, Loch Arbor, Interlaken, Bradley Beach or Ocean Grove 2. Matriculate by September 1 st of the application year at a college or vocational/technical school accredited by an agency recognized by the US Department of Education. 3. In order to receive the second payment of the scholarship award, we must receive a transcript with the official college seal stating or providing evidence of successful completion of the first and second semesters maintaining an average of 2.5 or better as a full-time student. 4. If an award winner transfers from his or her chosen institution the committee must be notified in writing to determine if guidelines are still being met. 5. Completed applications must be received by May 1, 2024 Children, grandchildren of members of the Rotary Club of Asbury Park are ineligible
 
 
Criteria for Selection
 
Consideration will be given to students who demonstrate an understanding of the Mission of Rotary International: providing service to others, promoting high ethical standards, and advancing world understanding, goodwill, and peace. In awarding scholarships, the Rotary Club of Asbury Park shall evaluate the applicants based on the following criteria: • Involvement in community service and commitment to making a difference • Demonstrated leadership in school and community activities • Character, integrity, initiative and other personal qualities • Academic GPA of 2.5 or higher
